Presentation by Dr. Magdeline Aagard, EdD, MBA, RN
Dr. Aagard is an Associate Professor of Nursing at Capella University teaching in the School of Public Health. She also specializes in teaching Qualitative Research for universities such as the University of St. Thomas and Mankato State University in Minnesota. Dr. Aagard is a visiting professor at the Hogeschool von Amsterdam and the Hogeschool Den Hague in the Netherlands.
Areas of research interest for Dr. Aagard include the understanding and practice of nursing leadership in different cultures and the successful implementation of Western health care programs in indigenous cultures. She is the president of her own consultancy specializing in these areas and presents nationally and internationally on these topics.
Dr. Aagard’s experience in leadership roles and her research endeavors have served as the foundation for her teaching and speaking internationally. Dr. Aagard frequently lectures in India and Tanzania and will be teaching in Liberia this winter. She presented this summer at the International Learning Conference in London and this fall at the XIII Pan American Nursing Research Colloquium.
Dr. Aagard received her undergraduate degree in nursing fromAugustanaCollegeinSioux Falls,SD. Her MBA in Medical Group Management and Doctorate in Educational Leadership are from theUniversityof St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the International Council of Nurses and the Transcultural Nursing Society. She serves as a reviewer for the International Nursing Review Journal and for Sigma Theta Tau International conference abstracts.
