Healthiest State Initiative walk

October 8, 2013 —

HSIwalkIowans across the state have shown their support for the Healthiest State Initiative by the hundreds of thousands! In both 2011 and 2012, nearly 300,000 Iowans participated in 1-kilometer walks to show that we’re ready for a healthier Iowa.

We’re going to keep that momentum going at DMU to make this year’s walk on Wednesday, October 9 the biggest one yet! Join your fellow DMU co-workers, students, Wesley Life staff and community members and walk one mile down Grand Avenue to 42nd Street and back.  Walks start in front of the Academic Center on the circle driveway.

Walks are scheduled at the following times to accommodate your schedules:

10:30 A.M.
11:30 A.M.
12:00 P.M.
1:00 P.M.

There will be a white poster where all participants may sign their names with a purple sharpie. We hope you will join us!

The DMU wellness staff are masters of balance. They motivate members of the DMU community by both challenging and empowering us in the group workout classes they teach and in the individual counsel they provide. They offer healthy cooking/eating sessions in the wellness center kitchen that balance good nutrition, great taste and relative ease of preparation. They're constantly seeking and providing new ways to get and stay healthy while emphasizing that simple exercise, such as taking a 10-minute walk break, is good, and that everyone can do it. Plus our wellness staff are wonderfully fun people to be around!
