Barb Boose Publications Director, Marketing and Communications August 30, 2012They got spirit, yes they do DMU’s PA Class of 2014 members celebrate their Spirit Week with “twin day.”Early in August, Annie Losinske and Sarah Barnett, members of the DMU Physician Assistant Class of 2014, realized last week was going to be a tough one for the class, with two big exams on the schedule. Capping off the week was Saturday’s White Coat Ceremony, a special event in which students in DMU’s clinical programs don the white coats of their profession. All ready for scarf day!“To keep spirits high and get the class excited for the White Coat Ceremony, we thought a high school-style Spirit Week would be just the solution,” Annie recalls. Here they show their undergraduate pride. With suggestions from classmates, the two future physician assistants began planning themes for each day of the week. “Monday began with an undergrad gear day, where everyone sported the colors of their alma mater and showed their undergrad pride,” Annie says. “Tuesday followed with Rainbow Day, where each row in the PA classroom wore a specific color, together forming a rainbow.”That was followed by Wednesday’s “accessory scarf day”; Thursday’s “twin day,” on which pairs of classmates dressed up like one another; and Friday’s “DMU day,” when class members were decked out in purple and white. Dose of DMU commends Annie, Sarah and their classmates for such spirited, supportive bonding. The PA Class of 2014 flaunts its purple DMU pride.“The PA class really is one big family,” Annie says. “Sarah and I thought that if we could have something fun to look forward to each day, we could make it through this tough week together and increase our excitement for the White Coat Ceremony.” PA faculty Roberta Baldus and Jolene Kelly, program director, get into Spirit Week, too. 2 responses to “They got spirit, yes they do” I think this blog is great and what a fun idea….”Spirit Week”!!
