The physician assistant class of 2012 isn’t even on campus yet, but applications open today, April 14, for the class of 2013 (which will start classes in June of 2011).

The Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies is a two year program. If you don’t want to commit to four years of medical school followed by several years of residency, but still want to be a health care professional who works directly with patients, this may be the program for you!

Physician assistants conduct physical exams, diagnose illness, order tests, assist in surgery and write prescriptions. Employment of physician assistants is expected to increase 27 percent through 2016. It was also ranked as one of the best careers in health care by U.S. News and World Reports.
