Andrea Cooley January 23, 2010How to help Haiti It’s hard to see people suffering and not know the best way to help. There’s a lot of information going around about what groups you should donate to or shouldn’t do to help those hurt in Haiti. I asked Dr. Yogi Shah, head of our global health dept., and he said truly the best thing you can do to help those in Haiti right now is to give money to the American Red Cross. Also, stay tuned to Meals from the Heartland as they schedule an upcoming food assembly day to send sustenance to Haiti. DMU did meal assembly in the fall through MftH and it’s a great group. 2 responses to “How to help Haiti” This is where I made my donation. It was a referral through a collegue who works closely with the organization: https://www.kintera.org/site/c.nvI1IeNYJyE/b.5719833/k.7D91/Haiti_Relief__Help_CURE_Now/apps/ka/sd/donor.asp?c=nvI1IeNYJyE&b=5719833&en=6oIFILPkE4LBLNOuGaIBKMPnGgKVLXMtHiIOJSNuHgIJINNxGsGLog in to Reply I think people are missing the point here – we are talking of a country that is lacking in people who can rebuild the cities that are without water, power and sanitation, are we not?Why not send out the unemployed professionals and pay them the money that the state keeps giving away, this way you will have construction workers, plumbers and electricians with work, and the money would be kept within the country and not just handed to organisations who are struggling to keep up with the relief, let alone re-building etc.Log in to Reply Leave a Reply Cancel replyYou must be logged in to post a comment.
