If you enjoyed the DMU 5k and are looking for another fun run and a way to contribute to the community, try the Scheels 10k & 1k youth run tomorrow at Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines.
Part of the donations from the run will be given to Shoes That Fit, a non-profit children’s charity that provides clothing and shoes for local children in need.
The Scheels 10k run will begin at 7 a.m. and the 1k youth run will begin at 9 a.m. Registration is $25 for the 10k run or $10 for the 1k youth run. You can register today at Scheels customer service in Jordan Creek Town Center or online or on race day tomorrow from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. Race packets can be picked up today at 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Scheels customer service or picked up tomorrow on race day.
Race packets include race bib, time chip and an Under Armour tech tee. The 10k race will begin in the Scheels parking lot and will end at the lake in Jordan Creek Town Center. The youth race will go around the lake at Jordan Creek Town center. Don’t worry about bringing extra drinks or snacks – Gatorade and water will be provided during the race and the good folks at Hy-Vee will have breakfast ready after you cross the finish line.
Okay so let’s recap on everything you’re getting tomorrow:
Exercise, Under Armour Tech Tee, Hy-Vee Breakfast and, most importantly, the wonderful feeling that you helped out local children in need. It’s a win, win.
See you at the race!
