Medical Education Research

Research in Medical Education is at the heart of the activities for a thriving medical school. Healthcare reform is changing the role of healthcare providers, and medical education must meet the challenge of supporting learners as they develop into competent and compassionate physicians.

Areas of Dr. Johnson’s interest and expertise:

  • Assessment of student learning
  • Assessment of new instructional modalities including simulation
  • Development and assessment of virtual patient case studies
  • Social media in medical education
  • Electronic portfolios for demonstration of learning outcomes
  • Impact of Healthcare Reform Legislation on medical student attitudes and perceptions
