What is your advice for prospective students?
I would advise prospective students to take time off work and enjoy themselves before school starts. During the school year, I recommend finding an activity that students can do to relax and unwind.
What are your extracurricular activities at DMU?
I am a student ambassador which gives me the opportunity to meet with prospective students and talk about why DMU is such a great school. I am also class secretary so I spend time meeting with faculty and attending school events.
What do you do when you’re not studying?
When I’m not studying, I spend my time doing yoga, running along the trails in Des Moines, and watching Breaking Bad. I also spend time catching up on sleep whenever I can!
Why did you select DMU?
The fact that DMU is a medical university was extremely appealing. I liked the idea of being surrounded by classmates who were all working towards the same goal. I also liked the state of the art equipment DMU provides to its students such as the SPAL rooms, anatomy laboratory, and surgical skills classroom.
Were you surprised by anything in the program
I was surprised by how fast-paced the classes moved. It took a few weeks and couple exams for me to develop a routine and feel comfortable with the pace of the PA program.
What is your favorite thing about Des Moines?
I love how many activities Des Moines has to offer including the Farmer’s Market, Zoo Brew, and many unique restaurants. There is always something fun to do!
