Kenice Frank, D.P.M.'16 ProfilePosition(s)StudentDoctor of Podiatric Medicine ProgramHome town: Allentown, PA Undergrad school: Northeastern University; Boston, MA Age: 28Class: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine – Class of 2016Why did you choose DMU?I chose DMU for their excellent curriculum, facilities and friendly faculty and staff. I’ve done the whole ‘big university’ thing so I was ready for a closer knit community, which DMU offered. I also was impressed with the way DMU practices what they preach by providing a fantastic wellness center, walk stations around campus & nutrition classes to ensure the immediate DMU community can actively practice the healthy living philosophy we will recommend to our patients one day. Were you surprised by anything in the program?I was surprised how much the students in different programs interact with each other and how active the clubs on campus are.Any advice for prospective students? To make a chart of characteristics, ranking from most important to least important, and fill it out objectively as you go around to different schools & then see what school makes the best fit for youExtracurricular activities/club involvement at DMU:Student National Podiatric Medicine Association (SNPMA), IPMSA, National Hispanic Heritage Month Planning CommitteeCareer objectives:I currently am interested in running my own private practiceOther: (anything else you’d like to share about yourself or your journey to DMU!)After living in Boston & Philadelphia for the majority of my adult life, Iowa was the LAST place I envisioned myself being. Surprisingly, the city of Des Moines is very diverse and has a plethora of activities to participate in. The people here are also extremely friendly and willing to help you, which was a huge help for me.
