Graduate of three of the University’s programs: physician assistant, health care administration and public health. Joined the physician assistant faculty of DMU in 1989. Named the PA program director in 1994, a position held until 2005. Currently serving as dean for the College of Health Sciences.
Area of Responsibility at DMU As Dean for the College of Health Sciences (CHS), I am responsible for all of the activities of the programs housed within the college. These include entry-level and post-professional doctorates in physical therapy, master’s degree programs in physician assistant studies, health care administration, and public health. As the chief officer of the college, I am responsible for all facets of the college including accreditation, strategic planning, fiscal responsibility, budgeting, faculty, staff, and student affairs. I maintain a collaborative approach to leadership through close interaction with the leadership team of the college which includes the program directors, the faculty president, our Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, as well as representatives of the student and alumni associations.
Americans are experiencing increasing levels of stress as they assume an ever-growing list of responsibilities at work, at home and in their personal lives. My research focuses on identifying life changes that will lead to less stress in their daily lives and promote a greater sense of well-being.
