Ian Odigie, D.P.M.'16 ProfilePosition(s)StudentDoctor of Podiatric Medicine ProgramHome town: Springfield, Illinois Undergrad School: Southern Illinois University – Carbondale Age: 29Class: Doctor of Podiatric Medicine – Class of 2016Why did you choose DMU?There are two main reasons I chose to attend Des Moines University. Firstly, from my own research I found out that Des Moines University had one of the top podiatry programs in the nation. Secondly, when I came to Des Moines University for my interview, the administrators and students were very friendly and that was when I knew DMU was the right place to further my educationWere you surprised by anything in the program? What surprised me most about the program was how helpful the administrators and academicians are to the students, everyone at DMU wants you to do well and they are willing to help you achieve their goals.Any advice for prospective students? My advice to prospective students would be to do their research on the various schools they are going for interview and never be afraid to ask current students in the various programs questions. By interacting with those students, it gives you a sense of what the ideology of the program entailsExtracurricular Activities/club involvement at DMU:Basketball, soccer and watching moviesCareer Objectives:My goal is to score high in my boards, get a good residency and become a successful podiatrist.Other: (anything else you’d like to share about yourself or your journey to DMU!)Des Moines University is a very beautiful school, if I was to do it all over again I would still attend Des Moines University.
