Areas of Expertise

Dr. Patterson Perry holds a Ph.D. in Health Behavior from Indiana University – Bloomington. Prior to joining Des Moines University as Assistant Professor of Public Health in 2023, Patterson Perry worked as Research Coordinator at the Center for Sexual Health Promotion and as Associate Instructor for public health courses at Indiana University – Bloomington. Patterson Perry believes in the importance of recognizing diverse student backgrounds, strengths and abilities, and values creating equitable experiences for students in her courses.

Dr. Patterson Perry conducts research that broadly focuses on sexual and reproductive health and behavior. At DMU, she hopes to serve as a resource for students as they prepare to navigate an evolving landscape of sexual and reproductive health, as relevant to their careers, as they honor the mission of DMU by serving communities as compassionate health professionals.
