Ajay Sharma

Ajay Sharma, D.O., is an associate professor in the Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine program and a provider at Des Moines University Clinic — Osteopathic Manual Medicine. Board-certified in osteopathic emergency medicine and medical acupuncture, Sharma brings more than two decades of clinical and academic experience to his practice. 

A graduate of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Sharma completed his residency in osteopathic emergency medicine at Michigan State University’s Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. His career includes 20 years of service within the Northwestern Medicine network in Chicago, where he provided patient care and trained postgraduate residents and interns. 

Sharma’s practice interests include osteopathic manual medicine, medical acupuncture and emergency medicine. A certified instructor in Advanced Trauma Life Support and Advanced Life Saving Obstetrics, he is passionate about advancing osteopathic principles, particularly the art of palpation, while helping patients achieve improved mobility, pain relief and overall well-being.
