Center for Academic Success and Enrichment (CASE)

Our mission is to promote our students becoming highly competent and compassionate health care professionals, we develop and provide educational services that support and enrich their academic success including academic consultations, workshops, peer tutoring, and educational accommodations.

The Center for Academic Success and Enrichment (CASE) is a part of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and aims to assist DMU students with a broad range of student academic services and programs designed to help learners achieve their academic and personal goals. Students will be provided with individual and group opportunities needed to become successful, active learners. CASE strives to assist students in developing independent learning techniques that will contribute to their academic success and life-long learning skills.

Academic Services Offered

The Center for Academic Success and Enrichment (CASE) strives to assist students in developing independent learning techniques, and improve their learning and test taking  skills one on one consultations can be scheduled to address any of the following areas:

  • Study strategies and test taking skills
  • Time management regarding academic planning and organization
  • Supplemental resources
  • Board/Certification preparation

To help support student success, the peer tutoring program is free and open to all DMU students. Striving to help students individually or in small group settings, peer tutors aim to help identify strategies, tips, and resources that may improve learning, comprehension, and confidence for students in particular areas of study.

The peer tutoring program may be used by students who:

  • are struggling academically
  • may have been out of school for a while
  • previously may have never had to study but who are finding they need to learn some strategies now
  • are doing okay but want to improve
  • are doing well and want to challenge themselves to attain a higher level of performance

  • Center for Teaching and Learning
    The purpose of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) is to advance excellence and cultural competency in teaching and learning. This is accomplished by utilizing resources to create, manage, and sustain innovative and collaborative faculty-driven programs to  support the improvement of instruction in all university academic programs. The center also serves as a resource for the assessment of student learning.
  • Multicultural Affairs
    As students at DMU, you will have many ways and experiences to gain skill sets that will enhance and contribute to your personal and professional development. Part of that  development is to become culturally competent. It is important to recognize that becoming culturally competent is an ongoing process. We will challenge you to examine your own cultural biases and stereotypes in your educational journey here. The end result will equip and empower you to be a part of a global health care system that responds appropriately to and is inclusive in delivering positive health outcomes for a multicultural society.

    A state-of-the-art, 25,000 square foot Wellness Center, located in the Student Education Center is open daily
