Accidents and injuries can happen anywhere, and lead to aches, pains and changes in mobility that limit our ability to lead active, healthy lives. Over time, our musculoskeletal system (bones, muscles, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and joints) can become stiff and painful, preventing us from experiencing daily activities like walking, bending, lifting, reaching and doing the things we enjoy.

Your physical therapist will evaluate your muscles, joints and movement patterns to determine your range of motion and what should be included in your individual treatment plan. At Des Moines University, our physical therapists have advanced training in manual therapy techniques that reduce pain throughout your soft tissue and joints, improve blood flow and mobility of the nerves, restore normal breathing patterns, and aid in your ability to move without pain.
