The College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University hosts an annual visit day – the Summer Podiatry Preview Program. This visit day is designed for prospective students with an interest in learning more about podiatric medicine as a potential career, and exposes them to the profession and educational opportunities at DMU. The 2015 Summer Podiatry Preview date has been set for July 10, 2015.
How do I qualify for the program?
To qualify for the program, applicants are recommended to have an overall cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 and an interest in applying to podiatric medical schools.
When is the application deadline?
Online applications will be available in late February 2015. Applications will be accepted until June 1, and we will extend the opportunity to as many qualified applicants as we can accommodate. In previous years, we’ve invited 15 – 20 participants for the program.
Will DMU help with expenses for travel to Des Moines?
Students are responsible for all travel and lodging arrangements and expenses. DMU will provide small travel stipends to help off-set the expenses incurred during your visit to Des Moines.

The visit will provide you the opportunity to visit Des Moines University, tour our facilities, meet students, and discover if DMU is a good fit for your educational needs. Participants in the visit program will be given priority consideration for an interview when they apply for admission to the College of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery at Des Moines University.

Discussion of curriculum, rotations, board exams and residency.
Admissions overview with the Director of Admissions
Discussion of admission process, financial aid, student life, global health, dual degrees & technology.
Q & A with current DMU podiatric medical students.
Demos and tours throughout campus – medical simulation labs, surgical skills lab, and DMU Foot & Ankle Clinic.
