Yes. If you use your debit card like a credit card to pay your student account charges, you will be charged a service fee. For checking account debits, please use the e-check option which does not incur a service fee.
You can avoid paying the service fee by paying online with an e-check, an electronic debit to your checking account. You may also mail a check to Des Moines University, Attn: Accounting, 3200 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312 or drop a check off in the Accounting Office located in the Academic Center, room 417. Please include your DMU ID number on the check.
Des Moines University is committed to providing students a range of options for paying their educational expenses. Today, a number of electronic options are available which are more advantageous from a cost perspective than paying via credit card. The credit card payment method has become prohibitively expensive because of the fees charged by credit card companies to Des Moines University for credit card transaction processing.
2.35% with a $3.95 minimum fee is the amount established by our third-party credit card processor to cover the transaction fees assessed by credit card companies.
Credit card payments are not accepted over the telephone or in person. If a third-party needs to make a payment by credit card or e-check, the student can create a Proxy user account for them in myPulse Self-Service.
