The Office of Student Life works proactively to help our students shape their co-curricular experiences while navigating their academic responsibilities. Student Life advises student clubs, special interest groups, and our three student government associations with faculty and staff involvement to ensure all students are getting the most from their experiences here in Des Moines, out on rotations, or attending classes through our online programs. Whether it is overseeing new student orientations, DMU’s spring and summer Commencement ceremonies, educating students on Title IX, leadership development, student health insurance, campus-wide programming, community outreach through service, or the Student Life Council, we are here to serve all DMU students.
Never hesitate to visit our offices located on the 5th floor in the Academic Center if you have any questions or would like to chat over a cup of coffee.

A Safe Zone
Des Moines University is committed to providing an inclusive environment in which every student and employee is able to thrive on an academic, professional and personal level. It is our goal through the Safe Zone program to foster a community that is based on respect and dignity by acknowledging that all sexual orientations and gender presentations are a valued part of our culture. The Safe Zone program provides a visible network of support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, questioning, and other individuals seeking information and assistance regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, harassment, and/or discrimination concerns.
