Research Symposium
A student shows her presentation
to Dr. Vardaxis.
The research symposium consists of a scientific poster presentation session followed by dinner and presentation by a keynote speaker.
The research symposium is not limited to medically-related work. Both clinical and bench top research are included in the symposium. Students attempt to recruit researchers from DMU, surrounding colleges and local clinicians to participate in the poster presentation aspect of the symposium. The student members of The Oncology Club and the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) are responsible for selecting the key note speaker.
The purpose of the research symposium is three fold: to recognize the research efforts of those in the surrounding community; to provide a forum for the collaboration of ideas and the production of new hypotheses; and to impress upon the students of DMU the critical role that research plays in the advancement of health care.
