- Bryan Larsen, Ph.D. Receives Beehler Research Mentor of the Year Award.
The American Osteopathic Foundation recently honored Bryan Larsen, Ph.D., DMU's dean of university research and biomedical graduate studies, with the $5,000 Beehler Research Mentor of the Year Award. It recognizes outstanding excellence in osteopathic research mentorship, an essential part of the learning experience for students, interns, residents and young practitioners.

The Journal of Cerebrovascular Disease and Stroke is set to publish a paper by Ruan Neurology Clinic and Clinical Research Center physician, Michael R. K.
Jacoby, MD and DMU professor Pat Finnerty, PhD who were joined by five
DMU students (now residents from the East and West coast). This study
investigated the availability of diagnostic and therapeutic modalities available
for acute stroke care among 118 hospitals across the state with emergency
departments, evaluating the availability of specific staff, services and
transport to accomplish timely transfer of patients to higher levels of care.
The study will comment on the degree to which the system for stroke care in
Iowa is developed. This research could profoundly impact planning for the
future of delivery of neurology services in the state.
