Connected Learning
During your time at DMU, communication and collaboration will be very important. The DMU Connected Learning Initiative enhances your educational experience by connecting you both on and off campus and providing you with more options for communicating with peers, faculty, and staff.
Laptop and Handheld computers
- As a new fulltime student at DMU, you will be issued a tablet PC and an optional handheld computer.
- You will use a single tablet PC model, and ownership of which will be transferred to you at graduation.
Internet Access
- A total of 72 Internet dialup lines that support up to a 56K connection are available free of charge to students living in the Des Moines local calling area.
- Nationwide Internet dialup options will be offered for students outside of Des Moines during the off-campus portion of their University career.
Information Access
- The University's portal web site is the gateway to all student web-based services. Students can view their grades, schedule, email inbox, and a variety of other content and service information all within a few individually customizable pages.
- Blackboard, a popular higher education web-based system, provides students with access to timely course content, quizzes, discussion lists, and other collaborative services.
- The University offers several learning and reference titles through Library Services. Those with appropriate licenses will be available on student laptops.
