Des Moines University College of Health Sciences
Director's Message

Congratulations on your decision to pursue a graduate degree and thank you for your interest in Des Moines University. The Master of Health Care Administration (MHA) program has a long and rich history in Iowa's health care community. In the early 1980s, several provider organizations worked with the University to develop a program that would prepare and further enhance the management and leadership skills of professionals responsible for the mid- to upper-level management of health services delivery.

The MHA program faculty and staff take pride in the development of a program grounded in the science and art of practical "real world" application of driving complex organizations. A combination of full-time and practitioner-scholar faculty offer the perfect blend of the theory that drives the practice of management, with the art of leading change in today's challenging health care environment.

Faculty and staff work to provide students convenient access to classes, seminars, guest speakers, internships, management studies and capstone experiences. The program embraces the use of technologies that allow them to deliver a high quality educational experience while working with students who have many demands on their schedules.

Des Moines University's MHA program has been a member program of the Association of University Programs in Healthcare Administration (AUPHA) since 1998; one of only two member programs in the state.

I welcome your inquiry about DMU's MHA program and offer my assistance in your decision making process. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at mhaadmit@dmu.edu

Best wishes in your educational pursuits,

Carla Stebbins, Ph.D.
