This week’s Friday Research Seminar Series will be hosted by the Master of Science in Health Care Administration program. All faculty members and students are invited to attend.

Simulation for Health Care Administration Students in the Standardized Performance Assessment Laboratory

Purpose

Health care providers must understand medical-legal issues. Their research explores how students learn by incorporating medical-legal issues (e.g., informed consent) into scenarios in the human simulation lab. Learning objectives are explicit written statements or anticipated outcomes derived by the participant in a continuing education activity. They are specific, short range, and action oriented in nature. Summary statements that describe the content or curriculum of the activity are not learning objectives.

Objectives

  1. Explain the potential benefits experienced by all stakeholders involved in a healthcare administration simulation.
  2. Describe the primary steps to develop and implement a complex legal and ethical decision-making simulation for healthcare administration students
  3. Identify unique constraints, special considerations and lessons learned when the standardized performance lab is used to carry out a healthcare administration simulation.
