The Isiserettes @ Ingersoll Live

by

If you were within a 5 block radius of Ingersoll Ave on Saturday afternoon you couldn’t miss the beat of the Isiserettes as they made their way down the street to kick off Ingersoll Live. Here’s a clip to start your week off on the right foot. Just hearing the drums makes me do a little dance in my chair! See them in this video:

Exciting alumni news

by

I recently ran across this announcement of a five-year $2.8 million grant to a 1991 alum, Dr. Vincent Grasso. He is working on improving care for women with HIV/AIDS. Way to go, Dr. Grasso. Keep up the great work – we are proud of you!

And to read about the 3 alumni of the year, click here. We have so many amazing graduates; to be selected is a real honor!

If you’re an alum & want to see yourself or friends at the CHS golf outing, click here for pictures. And if you attended alumni reunion, keep watching this page for reunion photos hopefully soon!

Mexican-MinestroneFall is just around the corner and that means it’s time for soups and slowcooker recipes like this tasty Mexican Minestrone from Weight Watchers (3 points per cup).

1 14 oz can reduced sodium chicken (or vegetable) broth

Physical therapy in St. Lucia

by

St Lucia has been quite the eye-opening experience on many levels. The health system here, as far as physical therapy is concerned, is very good but needs further development. The people do very well with the resources available to them but they need so much more.

We had the opportunity to do some community outreach working at home health and at the local elderly home. Home health was very heart-wrenching to say the least. Very depressing as there is no transitional stage between hospital care and home. The elderly home was well-run.  The patients were very clean and well taken care of.

Take a break from studying this weekend and head to the best block party in town. Ingersoll Live is this Saturday from 4p.m. to 11p.m. Ingersoll Ave will be closed between 28th and 29th Streets.

The event is free and great for the whole family. Enjoy live music, food (from Jesse’s Embers, Star Bar, Gateway Market and Uncle Wendell’s BBQ to name a few) and more than 30 booths featuring local vendors. Live performances include the Isiserettes Drill and Drum Corps, Faculty Lounge and The Sonny Humbucker Band.
