When the U.S. Army celebrated its 234th birthday at the Pentagon on June 12, DMU graduate Colonel Arthur Wittich, D.O., was there to cut the tank-sized cake. He earned the honor as the oldest soldier serving in the Army.

Friday Recipes: Salsa and Guacamole

As the newest member of DMU’s marketing and communications team, I wanted to introduce myself, and what better way to get acquainted than with food! I’m a closet foodie. I love watching Top Chef and the Food Network, subscribe to Bon Appétit and can recommend the best restaurants in Des Moines—just ask! It'll be an artsy weekend!

This year there’s even a free concert by Gavin DeGraw and Collective Soul.

It’s not just anybody who will proudly wear a tie with a rubber chicken on it, especially while doing hospital rounds. If you know my dad, however, you would likely not be shocked by such a tie. You wouldn’t even have to see his rainbow trout tie or police line-do not cross tie to know he sometimes colors outside the lines.
