CelebrAsian was Saturday. I look forward to this time of year because it’s when all of the Asian people come out and you can eat Asian food and see traditional performances from all the Asian culture. There were vendors representing Thai, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and so much more.

Everyone has a bad day here & there to complain about. But lately when I have a bad day, I think of a friend who is going through a much more challenging time. Jeff Mullin, one of my best friends’ dad, is an awesome guy who is constantly smiling.
After months of back pain, Jeff woke up a few weeks ago and couldn’t move. A trip to the ER, cat scan and into surgery he went. His spinal column was full of arthritis and they’d removed as much as they could. His family was told he’d be paralyzed below the waist and confined to a wheelchair.
Read & view the KCCI news story about Jeff.

Well, technically, it’s held at the Des Moines Art Center, just a few blocks down the road, and taught by visiting artist Tracy Duran, M.F.A.
This was an amazing class coordinated by Gary Hoff, D.O., FACOI, FACC, and it is available to all DMU students. Being that I never graduated from stick figure drawings, this was the class for me.
I had a great time with this class and I just wanted to share my art work to show my progression through the 13 week course.

Seems like second year students are hibernating in the library sitting in a deep trance with their face stuck in their COMLEX or First Aid USMLE books.
What are those books anyway? Oh dear, so soon? Yes, it is board studying season! So what is everybody’s technique in preparing to study for their national board exam? For me, it’s dividing up the pages of the First Aid book to the days remaining until the boards. We’ll see how that goes! Post your comments below if you have suggestions for us.

I decided this past week, May 2 through May 9, was going to be my BEST WEEK EVER.*
How did I come to this conclusion? I was (self) diagnosed with Toomuchstudyitis, was getting kind of restless, and needed an excuse to celebrate. I thought, “Why not celebrate an entire week for no real reason at all?” Done and done. Here are the details:
