A Newcomer’s Perspective

Interested in learning more about Des Moines University? I was in your shoes about seven or eight months ago. I know what you’re thinking – her title says “Admission Coordinator,” so how could she have been in my shoes? Well, while you’re looking at DMU as a potential school, I was looking at DMU as a potential employer! Graduating from college in May was a scary step towards the dreaded adulthood, and moving away from the “small-town” Iowa life I’d always known was pretty scary. But, after six months of living in Des Moines and working for Des Moines University, I can say I’m happy with my choices!

100% pass-rate for PA Class of 2007

by

We are very pleased to report that all 36 Physician Assistant students from the Class of 2007 have now taken their national certifying examination and all 36 of them passed on their first attempt! A 100% first-time pass rate is phenomenal–something we’ve only accomplished a few times since the program’s first graduates in 1983. For comparison, national first time pass rate is generally down around 90%-94%. The program is anxious to receive the official year-end report, but in addition to the 100% pass rate, it also appears that our individual student scores are high as are the scores in the various testing areas. Congratulations to the students in our PA Class of 2007!

Regardless of politics, it’s pretty cool to hear a presidential candidate first-hand. It seems like DMU is a hot-spot for politicians lately! Senator Joe Biden even chose us as the location to unveil his healthcare plan!
