Brian J. Beck, D.O.’69

Beck started part-time work July 1, 2013, at McLaren Medical Center in Davison, MI. He says he loves having more time for family and that he’s able to do things he has always wanted to do. He is excited to come back to campus for his class’s next reunion.

Brenda K. Jeffers, M.H.A.’03

Jeffers was named facility administrator of the new DaVita Dialysis unit in Ottumwa, IA. She was also appointed to the board of directors of the River Hills Community Health Center, a federally qualified health center in Ottumwa. River Hills is one of 14 federally qualified facilities in the state of Iowa.

Mark A. Barinque, D.P.M.’93

Barinque and his wife, Romola, welcomed a daughter, Nicole Elizabeth, to their family on March 19, 2013. She is their fifth child. Barinque practices with Plains Podiatry Associates in Lubbock, TX.

Elliott is the middle member of three generations of D.O.s. His father, George G. Elliott, was a graduate of the DMU (then Still College of Osteopathy) Class of 1912, and his son, James W. Houle was elected a life member of the American Osteopathic College of Radiology. He has practiced as an interventional radiologist and is now in a solo radiology practice in Paris, IL.

Williamson and his wife, Tressa, welcomed a daughter, Quinn Lynne, to their family on Oct. 29, 2012. Williamson practices orthopedics with St. Croix Orthopaedics in New Richmond, WI.

Jaimie L. Perkunas, D.P.T.’05

Perkunas was married on March 10, 2012, and has a private practice, Yoga Therapy for You, in Tucson, AZ, incorporating physical therapy and yoga. She teaches yoga and other classes in California, Mexico and Arizona.

Jill M. Smith, M.S.P.T.’01

Smith (formerly Staehr) and her husband, Jared, welcomed a son, Landry, to their family on Feb. 13, 2013. Landry joined brothers Parker, 6, and Sterling, 3. Jill is the clinic manager of Madonna Therapy Plus in Lincoln, NE, and became a certified Pilates instructor in 2011.

Thomas S. Haas, D.O.’88

Haas gave a talk on breast cancer in April in Manchester and London, titled “Key Immunohistochemistry Diagnostic and Prognostic Markers in Breast Cancer,” and another presentation, “Sentinel Lymph Nodes,” in Melbourne, Australia, a week later. He is a pathologist with Mercy Health System in Janesville, WI.

Kurz started a private practice, Cornerstone Family Medicine, providing family medicine, osteopathic manual therapy and occupational medicine/workmen’s compensation in Pagosa Springs, CO.

Rochen received the special board of governors award from the American Osteopathic Colleges of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery, the highest award the colleges give, for exceptionally meritorious service.
