August 25, 2014 —

Take a lap down Grand Avenue with Des Moines University students, faculty, staff and alumni at Run DMU. The annual 5K run/walk kicks off on Friday, September 5, at 6 p.m. in front of the University.

Run DMU provides a scenic route down Grand and around the Pappajohn Sculpture Park before returning to campus. Post-race osteopathic manual medicine (OMM) treatments, physical therapy screens, foot screenings and first aid are available to participants at the finish line along with great food and prizes.

“Des Moines University is committed to promoting health and wellness in the community. Run DMU was recently endorsed by the Healthiest State Initiative, which directly aligns with that commitment,” said Gretchen Johnson, assistant director of alumni relations.

Registration is $25 through September 4 and $35 on the day of the race. Youth 12 and under are $15. Teams of 10 or more receive a group rate. Runners, walkers, strollers and pets are welcome. Registration includes a race shirt, bib and sport tag. Awards will be given for each age category and overall winners.
