Get a jumpstart

July 23, 2013 —

It’s the end of July already and school start dates are right around the corner. Take some time this weekend to cross off one of the things on your long to-do list: school physicals.

Des Moines University, the Polk County Health Department and other local agencies are partnering to provide free school physicals and a variety of other health services this Saturday, July 27, at East High School, 815 East 13th Street, Des Moines.

Jumpstart School Physicals is an annual event that offers physicals, immunizations, dental screenings, lead tests, EKGs and mental health screenings to area students. The health fair also provides help with health and dental insurance applications and info on after school programming. Students who participate in the screenings receive a snazzy backpack with school supplies.

Hope to see you there!
