Two members of the CPMS Class of 2013 were selected by the faculty to each receive a $2,500 scholarship from the Podiatry Insurance Company of America (PICA): Matthew McCammon, this year’s Graduate with Distinction, and Kathie Palmersheim Whitt, recipient of the CPMS Professional Service Award. PICA supports podiatric medical education by awarding scholarships to fourth-year students for academic excellence, leadership and service.
Casey Ebert, another 2013 graduate and recipient of the CPMS Leadership Award, was awarded the Michael L. Stone D.P.M. Outstanding Professional Conduct Award at the annual business meeting of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery Feb. 11 in Las Vegas. A student at each college of podiatric medicine is selected by the faculty to receive the recognition, which includes a $2,000 honorarium, based on the student’s professionalism, leadership, academic performance and service to the community and profession. Ebert is past president of the Iowa Podiatric Medical Students’ Association.
