Bartels, a board-certified neurologist, joined Iowa Methodist Specialty Physicians, a group of six practicing neurologists in Des Moines. He completed a neurology residency at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and a fellowship in neurophysiology at the University of Illinois in Chicago.
