Fall fun runs

fall runnerWith the temps dropping along with the leaves, now is the perfect time to hit the streets and enjoy an outdoor run among the fall foliage. Here are a few fun runs coming up over the next couple months.

OCTOBER

Fight for Air Walk: 1 Mile Walk, 3 Mile Walk or 5K Fun Run from Principal Park in Des Moines

Johnston Spooktacular 5K Fun Run: 8 a.m. Johnston High School, Johston, IA. Costumes encouraged.

Principal Financial Group 5K Road Race: In conjunction with the Des Moines Marathon. Starts at Nollen Plaza at 8:30 a.m.

Des Moines Race for the Cure:Starts at 9 a.m. on the State of Iowa Capitol Grounds.

Chocolaterie Stam Halloween Hot Chocolate Race:Halloween fun for the whole family. Race starts at Principal Park and ends at Chocolaterie Stam with a cup of hot chocolate.

NOVEMBER

Fairgrounds 5k: Starting at 1:00 p.m., runners, joggers and walkers will experience the Iowa State Fairgrounds’ park-like setting without the hustle and bustle of the Fair.

Living History Farms Off-Road Race: A local favorite, this 7k  will challenge you as you wade through creeks, dodge farm animals and claw your way to the top of gullies.

Tour de Lights: Get a whole different perspective by walking, running or biking through Jolly Holiday Lights at Waterworks Park.

46th Annual Turkey Trot: Iowa’s Oldest Road Race takes place at the Iowa State Fairgrounds

With a deep love for her hometown, Nicole Branstad is pro-Des Moines and is constantly touting its many events and attractions.     I always liked running, it goes with my personality and of course it keep my saphe, but now the think I like the most is doing it with my husband and my dog, he never used to like it and now he loves it, so now we like doing it as social event and we love running all the social runs
