Tomorrow is February!

January 31, 2011 —

How crazy is it that we’re almost into the second month of 2011? Time is FLYING! If you want to prevent heartbreak, consider this your early reminder about Valentine’s Day…

Significantly more important (long-term anyway!) is preventing heart disease. American Heart Association’s ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign asks you to sport their fave color THIS Friday, Feb. 4, to raise awareness. Please remember Wear Red Day and share info about the #1 killer in America!

If you want to do more than wearing red, you can share how heart disease or stroke has impacted you over lunchtime (if you RSVP ahead), you can attend the Heart Ball on Feb. 12 for $250, start a team and collect donations for the June heart walk or just spread the American Heart Association’s message!

Courtney Tompkins has been part of the DMU marketing team since Nov. 2005 and loves promoting a school she believes in so thoroughly. Proud daughter and patient of DMU alumni, Courtney knows, first-hand, that Des Moines University is doing a world of good. A fan of all outdoor festivals, fruity drinks and nearly all edibles, she has a hard time narrowing down her list of favorite places to go and things to do but lists the Iowa State Fair as an all-time fave. She loves her 8-minute commute to DMU from Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines. She and husband Tyler are owned by three large dogs, Tonka, Tucker and Tank.
