Weekend plans?

May 19, 2010 —

Last weekend was PERFECT for the downtown farmers’ market and I saw a lot of DMU faces there. Plan to hit it up if you haven’t yet this year.

If I get time I’m gonna drive west….from 2 til 5 on Sunday, you can enjoy The Melodie Proffit Band for FREE at Penoach Winery in Adel.

I don’t know why but lately I’ve had the itch to hit a theme park. If you also enjoy a stress-free day of rides, corndogs, funnel cakes and tunes, check out Adventureland! It’s open weekends already this year. You can get discount tickets from HR! You can also get discount tickets for Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun or Silver Dollar City but that involves a road trip.

I’ve heard Incredible Pizza in Urbandale is a fun place, with or without the whole family. Go-karts are always fun if it’s chilly or rainy!

If you’re the type, it might be a good weekend to grab your clubs & hit the greens.

The Greater Des Moines Convention & Visitors’ Bureau has a list of 100 things to see & do in Des Moines this summer. Check it out. You can sort by area of town or interest. How many have you done or do you plan on doing?

Courtney Tompkins has been part of the DMU marketing team since Nov. 2005 and loves promoting a school she believes in so thoroughly. Proud daughter and patient of DMU alumni, Courtney knows, first-hand, that Des Moines University is doing a world of good. A fan of all outdoor festivals, fruity drinks and nearly all edibles, she has a hard time narrowing down her list of favorite places to go and things to do but lists the Iowa State Fair as an all-time fave. She loves her 8-minute commute to DMU from Urbandale, a suburb of Des Moines. She and husband Tyler are owned by three large dogs, Tonka, Tucker and Tank.

I’ve got a lot of weekend plans. However, I’m just planning to have a barbecue and invite some friends and relatives over.
