go out for a picnic!

go out for a picnic!

It sounds like this weekend will be more days of gorgeous weather. You should plan now to get your nose out of the books and spend some time with those you love!

Maybe you can go to an orchard and soak up some sunshine while picking your fruit!

Or, on Saturday morning, check out Paws 4 A Cause, a walk to raise money for Raccoon Valley Animal Sanctuary & Rescue. You can sign up day of the event to walk for $15. Fun stuff begins at 8:30 a.m. and the walk starts at 11. You can bring your dog but you don’t have to. Come even if you are an animal-lover without a dog! This is a great cause!

Friday through Sunday is the Beaverdale Fall Festival with lots to see and do!

The Latino Heritage Festival is Saturday & Sunday at the zoo. It’s $5 for adults & $1 for kids.

The free Iowa Outdoor Expo for Kids & Family is Saturday & Sunday in Waterworks Park. The expo will include a dog demonstration, trap shooting, fish identification and info on native plants, birds, insects and animals, plus more.

Other free options are the always delightful — visit the Art Center, take a walk or bike ride on the trails, explore some of Iowa’s awesome parks, take a picnic or just sit on your porch and watch people!

Also, plan ahead, Sunday the 27th, there is a Des Moines Family Music Festival at the zoo. If you buy tickets ahead they’re only $8. It sounds like a lot of great tunes and things to do.
