The Iowa State Fair begins soon (Aug. 13-23!) and DMU Day is August 16. I know I blogged a bit about it awhile back but plans have changed a smidge… So just to update you, we will not be in the Farm Bureau tent the 15th & 16th. We will, however, have students and faculty doing COPD screenings in the Farm Bureau tent on the 19th and 20th with the American Lung Association. We will still be partying in the big white tent on the concourse on Sunday the 16th so stop by for lots of awesome freebies, a temp. tattoo that looks like stitches and a free OMM treatment! You can get info on our nine graduate programs, our DMU Clinic and many of our free community events!
Other cool events coming up:
Golf Fore Scholarships will raise money for students in the College of Health Sciences on August 22. A shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. will start off the fun at Blank Golf Course. RSVP by Aug. 17! For $100 you get 18 holes of golf, use of a cart, snacks, dinner & award eligibility, PLUS the knowledge that you helped support future health leaders!
Run a 5k through the beautiful DMU neighborhood on August 15 — it’s the DMU Run-Day-Voo! The run begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Academic Center, 3440 Grand Ave. Register online for $15 or the morning of the race for $20.
If you’re in the health care industry and need a job (or employees) check out DMU’s physical therapy & other health occupations job fair on Sept. 21! It is open to all.
On November 7, 8 a.m. to noon, local folks 55 or older are invited to campus for the Senior Health Fair for many free screenings and health consultations!
And….. a special bit of info you won’t get anywhere else this early: Our always-popular Mini Medical School will focus on the five top causes of death in the U.S. as a theme for 2010. The first session is Feb. 9 and runs five consecutive Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. Watch www.dmu.edu for details and registration info soon!!
