Why did you choose (DMU-CPMS)

I chose DMU because of its outstanding reputation. I wanted the best podiatric medical education available. DMU had the facilities, faculty, curriculum, board pass rates and residency placement to convince me that they are the best. Additionally, the extra amenities like the wellness center, game room and student lounge make the campus an enjoyable place to learn.

Any advice for prospective students

School can be stressful and demanding so it is important to make time for yourself. Have fun and enjoy the experience!

Extracurricular activities outside the classroom

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved. DMU has a significant number of clubs and social gatherings that you can join or attend. I am involved in SCACFAS (Student Chapter of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons), ACFOAM (American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics and Medicine) and AAPSM (American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine). There are also many different leadership opportunities like being a class/club officer or teaching assistant. These positions are a great way to improve communicative, managerial and team building skills. One can also volunteer in many of the community outreach events like the Senior Health Fair. Intramural sports and the Malpractice Bowl are just a few of the fun things to do outside the classroom. DMU and the local area offer plenty of ways to ensure that your personal life is every bit as fulfilling as your professional life.
