Why did you choose (DMU-CPMS)
I chose DMU-CPMS for a number of reasons. During my interviews I focused on things like facilities, board pass rates, and residency placement—all of which were outstanding characteristics of DMU. I chose DMU because I thought it would make me a great student and a great podiatrist.
Any advice for prospective students
As a prospective student, it is important to look at all of the schools you’re interested in and to ask questions. Medical school is a big commitment, and it is important to make sure you’re making the right decision for yourself. That being said, it is especially important that you choose a school that you think will fit your personality well. Make sure you meet current students and find out what it is like to be a student there. Could you see yourself in their shoes?
Extracurricular activities outside the classroom
As a first year student, I was admittedly a little slow to get involved, but as the year progressed I found myself more and more involved in most of our college’s clubs. I am also our student body president, which involves a great deal of communicating between colleges, clubs, administration, and our students. Becoming involved in the daily operations of our campus community has been very rewarding and is very much a part of who I am as a student.
In 10 years I see myself…
practicing in one of the best professions out there and sharing my experiences and knowledge with anyone that will listen. I see myself working hard to become and established physician and hopefully working toward a leadership position within our profession. My leadership roles as a student have given me a desire to not only become a podiatrist, but to become a leader in our profession.
