Class: Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies – Class of 2014
What advice would you like to share with prospective students?
Apply early! Then once you get in, take time to enjoy life before you start school. Things get hectic fast so take some time for yourself. Be prepared to work hard and learn a lot. You will be amazed at how much you learn!
Why do you want to be a PA?
I want to take my love for medicine and put it to use to improve the lives of others while using quality, compassionate care. I also love the fact that I can practice nearly every aspect of medicine while being able to maintain a life beyond work.
Why did you choose DMU?
The first thing I noticed was how friendly and nice everyone was during my interview. I was extremely impressed with the technology that is available here too.
What are your career objectives?
I am undecided in the specialty that I want to pursue, but I am interested in women’s health or surgery.
What is your favorite thing about Des Moines?
There is always something to do!
Were you surprised by anything in the program?
I was surprised by how much I rely on the people in my class. The program is very intense, but it helps that there are 50 other people in the class that understand what you are going through and are there to support you along the way.
