Any advice for prospective students?

It is our pleasure and obligation, as physical therapists, to participate in professional development. Enrolling in the post professional program will aide not only to strive toward achievement of enhanced knowledge, skills and abilities for excellence in practice, but also to support and advance the profession.

Extracurricular activities:

Exercising, tap dancing, listening to music, hockey, bunco and playing video games (Guitar Hero) are a few of my favorite things. I also enjoy reading (Lee Child & Sophie Kinsella), shopping and of utmost importance spending time with my family and friends.

Why DMU?

The PPDPT program at Des Moines University provides a great opportunity to further enhance global skills and become the best clinician I can be. This curriculum, completed through distance learning, will assist me to provide quality and evidence based interventions, contribute to society, work as part of a team, and obtain leadership skills for potential supervisory advancement. It also provides me the knowledge to streamline and facilitate the direction of future continuing education, work toward specialization and/or credentials and fulfill the Vision of 2020.

Career objectives:

As co-CCCE my primary goal is to motivate staff, increase participation, and enhance the overall student program to provide optimum experiences to those participating individuals. My secondary goal is to use the student affiliation process to expose our work environment to as many potential future employees as possible.

I also look forward to participating in the shaping and mentoring of colleagues throughout this evolving health care system. Developing additional leadership skills through participation in educational opportunities, both clinical and institutional, will assist me in becoming a better mentor for students and future colleagues, as well as improve my ability to contribute to relationships with my current co-workers. My long term career goals also include directing and/or supervising individuals within the practice of physical therapy.
