Any advice for prospective students?
My advice is to go into each class with enthusiasm. Read the material and be able to incorporate the content into your own words and relate it to your own practice. The information should make sense to you. The instructors want to know that you have an understanding of the concepts presented. Any time you can relate it to a personal work experience, the better.
Extracurricular activities:
I enjoy training for and competing in local triathlons as well as watching my daughter play college soccer. I’m also redecorating my son’s room, now that he’s in law school. Empty nesting!
Why DMU?
I liked the curriculum that DMU offered. I have an interest in community wellness and trying to encourage affordable and reasonable healthy habits and activities for people to help stave off chronic impairments that lead to disability later in life. DMU offered quite a few courses relating to community and family wellness that intrigued me.
Career objectives:
I hope to build on my education, experience and current work environment to develop programs geared towards simple fitness for people of all ages. Many times people, kids included, have muscle imbalance that they are unaware of. This can lead to many chronic problems that could be corrected with simple exercises if people just knew what to do.
