The city of Des Moines
Des Moines is the capital of Iowa and our metro is home to approximately a half million residents. Our city is consistently ranked among the best in the nation for our low cost of living, high earning potential, employment opportunities, active lifestyles, environmental action and good mid-western friendly attitudes.
Des Moines University campus
From our classrooms to clinics, Des Moines University’s campus is impressive. Students begin their education in our Anatomy Labs, Simulation Labs, and Bako Pathology Clinical Skills Laboratory. As the education shifts from the classroom to the clinical setting, students see their first patients in the Foot Ankle and Institute - the largest practice of podiatric physicians in the state of Iowa.
The DMU community is a welcoming place, and many students enhance their support system by joining one of more than 50 clubs and organizations available to students. There are clubs geared toward professional focus, specialty focus, religious groups, physical activities and more.
