Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine
How To Apply

Begin by applying online through the American Association of Colleges of Podiatric Medicine Application Service (AACPMAS) at www.e-aacpmas.org.

Arrange with your preprofessional advisory committee to have an evaluation sent directly to the CPMS Admissions Office. No other letters are required, and you should not hesitate to have references sent ahead of your application. Materials will be kept on file for you. If you do not have a preprofessional advisory committee, you may substitute two letters of reference; one from a health professions adviser and one from a professor (science preferred) or podiatric physician who can address the quality of your academic work. These letters should be on the writer's letterhead and should be sent directly to the CPMS Admissions Office.

MCAT

You must complete the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) to be considered for admission. MCAT registration information can be obtained through www.aamc.org. Contact the CPMS Admission Office if you have questions about the MCAT requirement.

Letters of Recommendation

Arrange with your pre-professional advisory committee to have an evaluation sent directly to the CPMS Admission Office. If you do not have a pre-professional advisory committee, you may substitute two letters of reference; one from a health professions advisor or one from a science professor and a podiatric physician whom you’ve shadowed. These letters should be on the writer's letterhead and should be sent directly to the CPMS Admission Office. You should not hesitate to have references sent ahead of your application. Materials will be kept on file for one year

When to apply

CPMS follows a rolling admissions policy. We begin accepting applications through AACPMAS in September and schedule interviews beginning in October and continuing through May. Students are accepted into the program until the class is full. For this reason, you are encouraged to apply as early as possible.

Please note: First-time entering students may apply to only one Des Moines University clinical program at a time (includes DO, DPM, PA, and DPT). Multiple applications will not be accepted or processed.

Interviews

All completed applications are reviewed for a possible interview. An on-campus interview is required for admission. Only those applicants who are being strongly considered for admission will be invited for an interview. The College does not interview applicants for screening purposes. All interviews are held on Fridays, with the day beginning at 8:00 a.m. and concluding at 2:00 p.m.
