The Health Careers Exploring Post 141 is a program that gives students the opportunity to explore the world of modern medicine. The program is available for young men and women who are 14 (and have completed the eighth grade) or 15 through 20 years old and is sponsored by Des Moines University and the Learning For Life Program of the Boy Scouts of America.

Students who join our team will explore various aspects of the medical field through hands-on activities, lively presentations and field trips. Students will interact with physicians, nurses, DMU faculty and other health care professionals while learning about opportunities in the medical profession and identifying areas that may be of interest to them. There is a small enrollment fee that covers all mandatory liability costs as well as snacks for each event.

Post members will be introduced to: oncology, plastic surgery, OB/GYN, family medicine, physical therapy, the physician assistant program, osteopathic manipulative medicine, neurology, pediatrics and many, many more exciting medical career opportunities.  You will be surprised at how many different opportunities there are and all of them are increasing in demand!

Volunteer students attending DMU assist with program activities when their schedule allows, thus giving Post members opportunities to speak with students who are actively engaged in pursuing their dreams of becoming health professionals.
