COM Admission Requirements
Prerequisites
The courses below are required for admission; you may apply while coursework is in progress.
- Biology/Zoology - 8 semester hours with lab
- General Chemistry - 8 semester hours with lab
- Organic Chemistry - 4 semester hours with lab
- Biochemistry - 3 semester hours
- Physics - 8 semester hours with lab
(may substitute 3 semester hours of Statistics) - English, English Composition, Speech, or Literature - 6 semester hours
- Other recommended courses include Cell Biology, Microbiology, Immunology, Physiology, and Anatomy.

Medical Experience
Exposure to medicine is required so applicants will have already determined whether the osteopathic medical profession is right for them. This experience can be paid or volunteer. The exposure must be documented in a letter of recommendation from a health care provider.
The MCAT
Applicants must supply results of the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) before being considered for admission. Test scores more than three years old are not accepted.
Academic Requirements
A science GPA and cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher are recommended to be considered for admission to the College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Other
Accepted students will be required to complete a criminal background check prior to matriculation.
