How to apply to the doctor of physical therapy program
The doctor of physical therapy program follows a rolling admission policy. Applications for the class that begins August 2011 are available beginning July 1, 2010 through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). Students are interviewed and accepted into the program from October through March. Classes start in August. The application deadline is January 15. Applications must be submitted to PTCAS by that date.

Application process
- Review the requirements for admission
You should have the majority of your prerequisite coursework and observation complete at the time of application. You can apply before completion of the prerequisite coursework and observation, but you must indicate on the application when you will complete the courses/observation. In addition, you do not need to have earned your bachelor's degree at the time of application but must have proof of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution by the time of enrollment in August.
- Submit your online application as soon as possible
Submit your application online at ptcas.org. Applications are available beginning July 15 for the class that begins the following August. The application deadline is January 15.
- Submit official transcripts to ptcas.org
Please include all colleges and universities attended.
- Send your GRE scores to DMU
The GRE institution code for Des Moines University is 2256.
- Submit letters of recommendation to ptcas.org
You must submit two letters of recommendation - one from a U.S.-trained and licensed physical therapist, and one from an academic instructor with whom you have taken a course
Once your application file is complete with PTCAS, it will be forwarded to Des Moines University. You will be contacted by phone if you are selected for an on-campus interview. An interview is required for admission.
Candidates are informed of an admission decision within two weeks following the interview.

Please note: First-time entering students may apply to only one Des Moines University clinical program at a time (includes D.O., D.P.M., PA and D.P.T.). Multiple applications will not be accepted or processed.
