Dual Degree

Students enrolling in a clinical program may be eligible for a medical dual degree option leading to a Master of Public Health (MPH), a Master of Health Care Administration (MHA), Master of Science in Biomedical Science (MBS), or Master of Science in Anatomy (MSA). Certificate programs are also offered in Public Health and Health Care Administration.

Clinical Dual Degree students have the opportunity to further develop their leadership skills, understand health care needs, and most importantly, enhance their medical and professional careers by learning to perceive issues from a broader-based point of view than their colleagues. These perspectives help them to see health care services in terms of community or population needs, look for ways to provide access through health policy initiatives, or gain an understanding of administrative challenges facing medical directors and physician leaders.

Geared toward working adults, the classes are offered in an evening, weekend and online format. This flexible scheduling accommodates Dual Degree students as well, since clinical classes are held during the day. Clinical dual degree students receive the benefit of a 50% tuition supplement in the non-clinical degree program from their primary college.

Students must complete 45 semester hours to earn the MHA degree. The Health Care Administration program will recognize up to 9 credit hours from the clinical program toward completion of a dual degree. Visit the Health Care Administration section of our website for more information and specifics about the MHA Degree.

Master of Science in Biomedical Science Degree (MBS)

The MBS program is designed to enable students to further develop their careers in medical and scientific research and academic medicine with the goal of improving human health.

The MBS program requires 40 credit hours of coursework. Students will select a primary focus of study in their first year while completing the majority of their coursework. The second year will be focused primarily on research. Dual degree students will be required to take a one year leave of absence from their medical program following completion of Part 1 of their Board exams, which results in a 5-year total commitment for completion of the dual degree. Visit the Biomedical Sciences section of our website for more information and specifics about the MBS Degree.

Master of Science in Anatomy Degree (MSA)

The MSA program provides advanced training in anatomy and is designed to prepare students for a professional career in academic teaching. The mission of the MSA is to equip students for professional careers in teaching anatomy and expand the fund of anatomic knowledge for dual degree students who plan to enter medical specialties underpinned by anatomical knowledge.

The MSA program requires 40.5 credit hours of coursework and will add no additional time to the four years of your core clinical program. Visit the Anatomy section of our website for more information and specifics about the MSA Degree.
