Required Core MPH Courses. Effective January 1, 2007. All courses are 3 credit hours unless noted.
Block I
- Orientation (no credit)
- Overview of U.S. Health Care System
- Public Health Administration & Management
- Epidemiology
- Basic Statistics and Research
- Survey of Human Health and Disease*
**Required for students who have no clinical experience
Block II
- Community Health Assessment
- Financial Management I
- Ethical and Legal Issues in Public Health
- Occupational & Environmental Health
- Behavioral Sciences & Health
- Health Services Program Evaluation
- Public Health Internship
Block III
- Public Health Capstone (2 credits)
Total semester hours of core: 38
Total semester hours of electives: 7
Total semester hours for MPH Degree: 45
Core courses are grouped into Blocks. It is recommended that you progress through courses in Block order although course scheduling and format may necessitate enrolling in higher level courses prior to completion of previous blocks. Your faculty advisor (assigned upon acceptance) can assist you in determining an order of coursework appropriate for you.
Electives can be chosen from the MHA Leadership Skills Seminars, MPH electives or MHA courses.
