Our Strengths
Des Moines University offers degree programs in medicine and the health science - nothing else. We share a singular mission to educate distinctive health professionals committed to patient-centered health promotion, the application of evidence-based practice and the discovery of knowledge.
Founded in 1898, the University now comprises three colleges. The seven programs are able to share a collective strength - a collaborative campus community where students and faculty come together in pursuit of knowledge.
With an enrollment of 1500, DMU is large enough to offer all the amenities of a major educational facility, but small enough to focus on its priority, excellence through personal, caring medical education.
Our educational programs offer some distinctive features:
- Students' pass rates on national exams and board certifications are consistently higher than those of similar institutions
- Our size allows students to learn from one-on-one interaction with faculty and peers
- Faculty are dedicated to teaching and fostering the success of every student
- Courses and the campus community embody a wellness philosophy
- Technology is a top priority at DMU, with state-of-the-art technology available to enhance your education
- Research opportunities involve students in the creation and application of medical knowledge
